Children’s Day Celebration Poster Contest Winners

C J Jennings, a junior at Barren County High School, has been chosen as the overall Children’s Day poster contest winner. C J’s design will be used on this year’s Children’s Day t-shirt. Congratulations to the four first place winners of the Children’s Day Poster Contest for this year and they are: 1st Place Elementary Schools Category-Brooklyn Renee Lyons-Temple Hill Elementary and Lily Collins Frost-South Green Elementary; 1st Place Middle School Category-Chasey Jessie; and 1st Place High School Category-Mikila (CJ) Jennings-Barren County High School.

Barren County Schools Endorses Kentucky Safe Schools Week

The Kentucky Center for School Safety announces Kentucky Safe Schools Week tol be observed October 19-25, 2014.

This year’s theme “LEAN On Me; Stop the Bullying!” focuses on the culture of the school and the interdependence of students and staff to make their school safe, warm and welcoming.  Within this overall culture students will be encouraged to support each other, connect with the staff and be diligent as they watch out for others in need. Fundamental to the “LEAN On Me” concept is straight from the song lyrics, “sometimes in our lives we all have pain and we all have sorrow” learning to depend on fellow classmates, trust the adults at school and to treat others well.  This “culture of kindness” will support the subtitle of “STOP the Bullying” by getting to the root of the problem before episodes escalate. Austin-Tracy Named a Proficient/Progressing School by the Kentucky Department of Education

We are proud to announce that Austin-Tracy has been named a Proficient/Progressing school by the Kentucky Department of Education.  According to the 2014 K-PREP state assessment results which measure achievement, gap closure, student growth, AT scored in the 86th percentile among Kentucky elementary schools.

Congratulations to the students, staff, and families of Austin-Tracy Elementary for a job well-done.  You have made us proud!

2014 Kentucky K-PREP Scores Show Barren County Schools Proficient

The third year of the Kentucky Performance Rating for Educational Progress (K-PREP) tests have been released, and the Barren County Schools show continual growth.   The Barren County District overall score increased to 68.9, which placed the district in the proficient range and at the 78th percentile in the accountability system.

AT Students and Staff Recognized by Superintendent Matthews

Three Austin-Tracy Eagles were recently recognized at the September Barren County Board of Education Meeting.  Elisabeth Greever was Barren County's student of the month, Nancy Simmons was Barren County's classified employee of the month, and Lacey Mahaney was Barren County's certified employee of the month.  

Mr. Bo Matthews, BCS Superintendent, attended the morning meeting celebration at ATES on September 22nd to recognize these wonderful Eagles in front of students and staff.

In addition, Mr. Matthews was recognized at AT's morning meeting for receiving two honors recently: recipient of the KASA Kids' Advocacy Award and being named Superintendent of the Year by the Kentucky Public Transportation Association.

Congratulations to all!  We are BC!!!

AT Students Enjoy Swim Lessons at the YMCA

Recently, students in Mrs. Bowen's homeroom were provided swim lessons for a week.  Our students truly enjoyed the experience.  We are very appreciative to the Glasgow/Barren County YMCA for providing these lessons to our students.  Thank you for all the support!

Students attend Local Farm Safety Day

Students in Mrs. Bowen's homeroom attended the annual Farm Safety Day event at the Temple Hill Fairgrounds on Friday, September 12th.   At this event, our students learned many valuable ways to maintain safety in farming and other situations.  It was a great day for all.

Grandparents' Day was a Hit at ATES

We had a wonderful Grandparents' Day event at Austin-Tracy Elementary on Monday, September 8th.  Grandparents were invited for a tasty lunch, then to their grandchild's class for a special presentation.  In addition, they were invited to take pictures with their grandchildren and visit our book fair as well.  It was another great day here at ATES.  We certainly have the best families around!!!

Fall Festival is November 1st

Our school's fall festival is set for Saturday, November 1st from 10-2 p.m. at Austin-Tracy Elementary School.  We will have tons of games and prizes as well as food and fun.  Come join us to have a blast and support our school.  See you there!
