Principal's Message

Jeannie London
North Jackson Elementary Principal

Welcome to the North Jackson Elementary School website!  My name is Jeannie London and I am excited to start my third year as the Principal here at North Jackson Elementary!   I began my teaching career in 1989 at Kyrock Elementary where I worked for seven and a half years before taking a sabbatical to raise our two small boys. In 1998, I returned to teaching and began working at Park City Elementary. During my tenure at Park City, I taught grades four, five and six, as well as served students in the special education program. In 2009, I had the priviledge to help open North Jackson Elementary and taught sixth grade until 2013, at which time I became the Assistant Principal. It will be a blessing to work with the students, staff, parents, and community as we continue the great traditions for our Jaguars!

Leadership is embedded in all that we do and continues to be part of the foundation for our school. We are proud to be a Leader in Me Lighthouse school and firmly believe that all students can and should be a leader not only here at school, but also in their families and community. Students are provided leadership opportunites in every classroom and schoolwide roles offer additional ways to be involved. The staff Leadership team and Student Lighthouse team will continue to be an essential part in the success of these efforts to ensure the students have a voice in THEIR school.

As in the past, North Jackson is committed to STEM/STEAM as a vehicle to fully develop our students' creativity, critical thinking, problem solving, and personal/social skills to make them capable and competitive for their future college and career experiences.  However, this year, there will be a renewed focus. Project Lead the Way (PLTW) is the nation's leading provider of STEM programs.  NJE is proud to to partner with BCHS to offer PLTW Launch to our students. It is an engaging, fun, project based curriculum with challenges and activities that lead students to practice reasoning, critical thinking, teamwork and problem solving skills.  With the Computer Science initiatives being offered at BCMS and BCHS, North Jackson will be dedicated to provide computer science and technology integration for all students in grades K-6 that will ensure they are ready for the challenges ahead!

Community and parent involvement are very important at NJE, and we believe it to be a vital part of student success. We are thankful for the community partners that we have and look forward to building relationships with new ones as we begin our 9th year. It is important for the students to see the connection between what they are learning in the classroom and how the learning will be used in their every day lives. Parent/guardian involvement continues to be a need and we encourage all parents, guardians and grandparents to get involved. We have many opportunites for you to assist and would love to work with you!  Research and experience shows us that parent/guardian involvement in a child’s education is directly related to his/her success in school. Please consider supporting our school by volunteering. It will be a win-win for all involved!

Together, we will continue to help our students "Dream, Believe, Lead and Achieve"!
