My name is Lacey Hickey and the 2019-2020 school year will be my tenth year as an Austin Tracy Eagle, and, let me say, I am so happy to be serving at a school with such heart, such rigor, and such high expectations for students. During my time at Austin Tracy, I have been able to experience many different grade levels. I began in a 1st grade homeroom and have since enjoyed 2nd grade and 3rd grade homerooms. This year I am excited to continue in 3rd grade! Although I have a 3rd grade homeroom, I will teach a variety of classes and grade levels - 3rd grade literacy and writing, 4th grade literacy and writing, and 2nd and 3rd grade science.
I graduated in 2010 from Western Kentucky University with a Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education and immediately went into the classroom at Austin Tracy Elementary. I have since earned my Master's Degree as a Reading and Writing Specialist through University of the Cumberlands! I also have my Rank 1 in Educational Administration from Western Kentucky University through the Leading to Learn grant. As you can tell, continuing my education is of the utmost importance to me - It not only sets a good example for my students, but also helps me to be the best teacher that I can be.
Outside of the classroom, I love to spend my time with family. I have lots of pets between my house and my parents' house! At my house, we have an 18 pound tabby cat named Buddha. At my parents' house, we have Bella the Yorkie-Poo, Foot our outside dog, and two cats (Nappy and Opposum). In my spare time I absolutely enjoy reading and some of my favorite books to read are children's books! I LOVE Lemony Snicket, Ruth Ware, Stephen King, and Tana French! I also enjoy riding my bicycle, watching documentries, and going shopping.
BIG NEWS FOR THIS YEAR - I am getting married to Kyle Hickey on September 2nd! I am so excited for this step in my life and know that the students are very excited too!
Thank you so much for taking the time to learn a little about me! I truly hope to learn as much as I can about your child and your family. I love teaching and I will do all that I can to help your child grow as a learner, as a leader, and as a part of our school family. If you ever need to contact me, feel free to call or text me at (270) 606-1819 or email me at email@example.com.
