Amy Irwin was introduced Wednesday morning as the new Barren County High School Principal in a press conference in the school’s media center.
Irwin, currently an assistant principal at Barren County High School’s Innovation Zone, will succeed current BCHS Principal Brad Johnson, who announced his retirement effective June 30.
“Mrs. Amy Irwin will continue to lead BCHS on a path to excellence. She’s had a variety of professional roles in her education career that will strengthen her ability to lead. Her time in the classroom as a teacher, directing BAVEL, middle school counselor, District College and Career Coordinator, Assistant HS principal as well as her community relationships made her a unanimous choice by the SBDM council,” Superintendent Bo Matthews said.
