Barren County Schools has named Justin Browning as the district's new Director of Instruction.

Browning brings experience spanning classroom instruction, school leadership, career and technical education, and district-level administration. He currently serves as the district's CTE & Innovation Coordinator while also serving as an assistant principal at Barren County High School.

Throughout his career, Browning has focused on building systems that improve teaching and learning, supporting educators, and creating opportunities that prepare students for success after graduation. In his current role, he has overseen Career and Technical Education programs, managed state and federal program funding, led district initiatives, and worked alongside school and district leaders to strengthen instructional practices and operational systems.

He holds a Rank I in Educational Leadership from the University of the Cumberlands, a master's degree in Educational Technology from Western Kentucky University, and a bachelor's degree in Middle Grades Education from WKU.

"Justin has earned the respect of colleagues across our district because he's thoughtful, collaborative, and always focused on what's best for students," said Superintendent Amy Irwin. "He's the kind of leader who works alongside others and isn't afraid to tackle complex challenges. I have every confidence he'll continue to move teaching and learning forward for our students and staff."

In his new role, Browning will oversee the district's instructional programs, work alongside school leaders to strengthen teaching and learning, support curriculum and professional learning initiatives, and help advance the district's mission of preparing every student for future success.

Browning commented, “I’m honored by the trust that’s been placed in me and excited for the opportunity to continue serving the district that has shaped my life,” Browning said. “I’m committed to working alongside our educators to support great teaching, create opportunities for every student, and help move our district forward. I’m thankful for the chance to continue investing in the place I’ve always been proud to call home.”

Browning's appointment reflects the district's continued commitment to investing in strong instructional leadership that supports educators and ensures every student has access to high-quality learning opportunities.
