South Central Rural Telecommunications Cooperative (SCRTC) and The Foundation for Rural
Service (FRS) have selected Aleigha Nuetzman from Barren County High School as the 2025
winner of the FRS Youth Tour.
This Youth Tour brings together over 100 students from across rural America to visit our nation’s
capital and learn about rural broadband, share their community’s story with key legislative,
regulatory, and government figures as well as a forum to meet and interact with peers from
other rural communities.
Over four days in June, Aleigha and her peers will explore the city, hear from experts at the FCC
and Congress, and discuss how to make our rural communities better. She will meet youth from
rural areas across the country, and develop leadership skills. Aleigha will also visit historical
sites including the Lincoln Memorial, U.S. Capitol, Mount Vernon, and the Arlington National
Cemetery.
Aleigha was selected based on her essay: The Impact of Broadband Internet on Rural
Communities. SCRTC as a NTCA and FRS member was proud to extend this educational offer
to all the school systems throughout the counties it serves.
